story

The story of NuCal Pipeline begins with Mark Schmitz, who entered the underground utilities industry in 1978, working his way up through the family business. In 1989, he launched his own successful company and later welcomed his son, Noah Schmitz, into the trade straight out of school.

While Mark explored other ventures, Noah continued to build his expertise, eventually working with one of California’s largest underground utility contractors, SJ Burkhardt.

In the midst of the 2008 recession, Noah founded NuCal Pipeline—a bold move during uncertain times. Despite the economic downturn, the company quickly gained momentum. Mark soon returned to the industry, joining his son as a full partner and forming a dedicated father-and-son team.

Since then, NuCal Pipeline has grown steadily, rooted in the values of hard work, family, and trust. As a family-owned business, the strong sense of respect and camaraderie among the team has become one of its greatest strengths—and the foundation of its continued success.
